Vacancy: 2024 JM LEAD – Operations/Engineering
Location: US Flexible
We currently have a number of openings at Johnson Matthey in our Global Graduate Leadership Rotational Programme. The Johnson Matthey LEAD Programme supports the key capabilities of our business and the rapid professional progression of future leaders. Graduates on the LEAD programme will undergo leadership development while completing high priority business projects in the areas of Science, Operations or Commercial.
This application will be for consideration of your first rotation, although we encourage individuals to rotate into all project areas.
Operations projects may include:
- Develop and implement engineered solutions for production improving safety, performance, and reliability
- Commission new plant equipment and develop/deliver training for operators
- Mechanical and maintenance optimisation
- Implement standardized JM processes to drive continuous improvement toward goals
- Energy and emission monitoring to drive sustainability opportunities
- Improve procurement, logistics, and supply chain processes for both upstream and downstream activities
JM LEAD consists of three rotations of varying lengths over 2.5 years in different business locations. “LEAD” covers the four stages of our Global Graduate Leadership Rotational Programme: Launching, Expanding, Accelerating, and Driving your career at JM. The scope of each placement is designed to build upon the other and develop a robust technical and soft skillset. This experience will enable you to develop a wide breadth of understanding of the various businesses in our company. The programme is robust and challenging; it’s ideal for individuals who are passionate about pushing themselves outside of their comfort zone. To support you through this and ensure proper development, we believe strongly in mentoring and coaching. You will receive plenty of care and expert career advice along the way through those partnerships. You will also participate in accelerated training and development interventions specifically designed to assist you in building the critical leadership skills needed as future leaders in the workplace.
Launching: 9-month rotation in the US (Sept 2024-May 2025)
Expanding: 10-month rotation in the US (June 2025-March 2026)
Accelerating: 12-month rotation on a global reporting structure which requires an international assignment or travel (April 2026-March 2027)
Driving your career at JM: upon conclusion of the programme, individuals will enter into identified roles within Johnson Matthey where they are empowered to continuing forging a path to leadership.
Are you the ideal candidate?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Environmental Science, or other related programmes (Masters or above a plus)
- Minimum Overall GPA of 3.2 required
- Must be geographically flexible and have a desire to relocate to any JM site in the US for 2 placements plus 1 international assignment for the duration of the development programme. Relocation assistance is provided to those who geographically qualify as determined by placements
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a true career aspiration to lead others is essential; must be adaptable, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a positive attitude in the face of adversity
- Must be able to deal with ambiguity
- Strong interpersonal skills a must, coupled with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills essential
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US on a continuous basis without company sponsorship
